Waitrose customers and employees have raised £674 for a Newmarket cancer fundraising group.

Sam Whittleton, Jo King and Shirley Berry from Waitrose put out collection pots in the store after their western-themed Christmas party and on Monday they kept the theme going when they dressed in western costume to present a cheque, with store manager Paul Foster, to group committee member Sarah Jarvis who said: “We have ring fenced the money to go to the Cancer Research Institute at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. They link up with the oncologists and fund clinical trials to improve treatments for people suffering from cancer.”
