Woman in A14 death crash from Newmarket

A woman who died in a four-vehicle crash on the A14 yesterday morning has been named by police.

Heather Emma Panter,31, of All Saints Road, Newmarket, died after the Ford Focus she was travelling in as a passenger was in collision with three lorries close to the junction at Nine Mile Hill at about 7am.

The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man also from Newmarket, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The three lorries involved in the collision were being driven by 24-year-old man from Poland, a 34-year-old man from Essex and a 38-year-old man from Hertfordshire.

None of the lorry drivers was injured as a result of the crash.

Both sides of the westbound carriageway and one side of the eastbound carriageway, between Nine Mile Hill and Stow-cum-Quy, remained closed until about 4.30pm.
