Woman arrested in town as part of county-wide initiative

A 28 year-old woman from Newmarket was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting in the town on Friday.

The woman was one of three people arrested by Suffolk Police across Forest Heath as part of Operative Validate, a county-wide initiative to target those suspected of burglary and handling stolen goods.

A 20 year old man from Brandon was arrested on suspicion of burglary, and a 21 year old, also from Brandon, was arrested on suspicion of drug offences.

“I am very pleased with the success of today’s operation,” said Kim Warner, chief inspector.

“Not only have we made a number of significant arrests, we have sent a very clear message to those who choose to participate in this type of crime.

“Although our figures show that burglary in Suffolk is decreasing, too many people continue to be affected and we need to do all we can to protect our communities,” said Insp. Warner.

Anyone with information on burglaries or people handling stolen goods should contact Suffolk Police on 101.
