An elderly man from West Row died from head injuries following a fall in his garden, an inquest has heard.

Walter Halls, 82 of Neve Gardens, died at his home at around 5.20pm on October 7.

An inquest, held at the Active Business Centre in Bury St Edmunds on Thursday, heard that Mr Halls was found collapsed in his garden at around 4.40pm by his wife Marian.

Paramedics attending to Mr Halls tried resuscitating him using CPR but were not successful.

A police investigation reported that it was highly likely that Mr Halls died from head injuries.

Following a post mortem examination carried out by pathologist Dr Mohamed Dada at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds, he gave Mr Halls’ cause of death as head injuries with a subarachnoid haemorrhage and a fracture dislocation of the occipto-atlantic joint.

After hearing the evidence Dr Dan Sharpstone, assistant coroner for Suffolk, recorded the verdict of an accidental death.
