Village to stage Sport Relief Mile

ONE of the country’s biggest charity sports events is coming to Red Lodge.

The village is set to host its first Sport Relief Mile on Sunday, March 25, and needs local people to come together and show their support by entering now at www.sportrelief.com

Setting off from Red Lodge Sports Pavilion, organisers are hoping the Red Lodge Mile will attract a host of residents to take part.

Entrants do not have to be sporty to take part and can choose to complete one, three or six miles, with all the money raised going to help change the lives of people living in tough circumstances locally, across the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Neil Gilmore, leisure development officer at Anglia Community Leisure, said: “The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Red Lodge is here and it’s your time to shine.

“From teeny-tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock there’s something for everyone on the big day.

“This is the first Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Red Lodge and it’s set to be a great event. So come on, pull your Sport Relief socks up, enter the mile and do something amazing,” he said.

The charity weekend starts on Friday, March 23, when many people will be out and about taking part in charity events to raise funds for Sport Relief before the television extravaganza featuring sports and television stars.

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile will then take place across the country on Sunday, March 25.
