Red Lodge is to play host to its third annual charity Summer Field Day on Sunday.
The event, which will be staged at the village’s sports pavilion will take place between 10am and 5pm.
A whole list of sporting activities will take place throughout the day including junior and adult five-a-side competitions, as well as a rugby sevens tournament.
Away from the sporting side of things the village’s scout group will be constructing a giant catapult from scratch, while side stalls run by various groups and organisations featuring games and activities will also be up and running.
“The idea of the event is to get everyone in the community involved and give groups the opportunity to showcase what they are about, try get new members and to raise funds for themselves, at the same time as having a bit of fun,” said Paul Hope, event organiser.
Stars of the small screen are also set to be in attendance as a team made up of cast members from Channel Four soap Hollyoaks take on a team made up of stable staff from Newmarket in a charity football match.
Entry to the event cost £5 per adult and £2.50 per child.
Proceeds from the gate money will be split between Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, Newmarket Army Cadets, Red Lodge Scouts, and Red Lodge Youth, a group which looks after the village’s junior sports teams.
