Two people arrested as police discover 300 cannabis plants at a property in Soham

Around 300 cannabis plants have been recovered by police at a property in Soham following an early morning raid.

The plants were discovered by police at around 4am today (Thursday) at a building in Hasse Road.

A 56-year-old man was arrested at the site on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and being in possession of a firearm, while a 59 year old woman was a arrested at a property in Mepal on suspicion of producing cannabis.

Both are in custody at Parkside Police Station, Cambridge.

The raid on the Hasse Road building comes just days after officers from Cambridgeshire Police discovered more than 12,000 plants, worth up to £6 million, in the town at industrial unit in Regal Drive.
