Two men stole £500 from a Newmarket pub and sprayed a member of staff with an “unknown substance”.

The men confronted staff at the Waggon and Horses, in High Street, at about 7am this morning (December 16).

Police said they sprayed one member of staff in the face with an “unknown substance” before demanding to be given money and stealing about £500 in cash.

The first suspect was described as white, in his late 30s, 6ft 2ins, of a slim build, and wearing a blue racing-style jacket and black bandana across his mouth.

The second suspect was described as white, in his late 30s, around 5ft 8ins, of a stocky build, and wearing a red racing-style style jacket.
