Two community transport services, which are a lifeline to hundreds of people in the Forest Heath district, have joined forces.
The Voluntary Network, which serves Newmarket, Mildenhall, Thetford and Brandon, has teamed up with Three Counties Transport, covering Haverhill and the surrounding parishes.
The groups provide a wide range of community transport services, which allow thousands of people without access to other forms of transport to carry out important tasks such as attending medical appointments, shopping and social activities.
Services include dial-a-rides, community car schemes, minibus hire and a town centre mobility scheme.
Caroline Cowie, Voluntary Network manager, said: “For several years both organisations have operated very successfully side by side but, as each organisation has expanded, we often overlap in terms of the areas we serve so to join forces is really a natural progression.
“Both organisations will retain their separate identities and there will be no disruption in services, however we will now be sharing budgets, resources and best practice to ensure we are both operating as efficiently and effectively as possible.
