A FORMER Soham Village College pupil died in a moped accident in Thailand on the day he was due to fly home with his wife for Christmas.
Joshua Scott-Paul, who was born and raised in Ely, was on the island of Koh Samui when he had an accident and broke his neck.
The 28 year old was holidaying in the east Aisan country with wife Sarah and some friends when the accident happened on Sunday, December 11.
Tributes have flooded in for Mr Scott-Paul, with more than 120 people joining a group on social networking website Facebook in his memory.
Mrs Scott-Paul wrote: “My heart is completely shattered. You were my love, my nearest friend, my soul mate, my life. I love you more than words could ever express.
“I just want you back. Rest in peace my beautiful, humble, compassionate doc and husband.”
Mr Scott-Paul was a medical student a the University of Notre Dame in Sydney.
Earlier this year he joined 23 others to walk the Simpson Desert, raising more than £1 million for Youngcare, a charity supporting young people with disabilities.
Jake Scott Paul, his older brother, said: “Josh was my best mate as well as my brother and will be sadly missed by everyone who new him here in the UK and Aus.
“He died doing what he loved – being adventurous. He wouldn’t want us to be sad or mope around but celebrate his short but huge life.”
Mr Scott Paul also leaves behind his mother and father, Mike and Rachel, who live in Ely, and younger brothers Joel, 22, and Jerome, 20.
