Floral tributes have been left in memory of a man from Lakenheath who died on his 22nd birthday in a car crash near Beck Row.
John Joe Scott, of Wingfield Road, died after the blue Ford Focus he was travelling in as a passenger left the road and collided with a tree at around 5.45am on Saturday.
Mr and Mrs Scott were still to upset to talk about their son when contacted by the Journal on Tuesday.
The driver of the car, a 20 year old man from Cambridgeshire, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, with head injuries.
He was later arrested by police on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol and causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been bailed to return to the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre on December 18.
Anyone who saw the car travelling along the road prior to, or when the collision happened, is being asked to contact the serious collision investigation team at Suffolk Police on 101.
