Clients of Newmarket Day Centre now have a mini bus to take them from their homes to the Fred Archer Way centre thanks to a Journal appeal.

The new nine seater, specially adapted bus, costing nearly £30,000, was bought thanks to money raised through the appeal and the fund raising efforts of the Friends of Newmarket Day Centre. Centre manager, Elvis McMinn, pictured left, with Julie Cecil and Nigel Wright, president and chariman, of the Friends group, said the new vehicle provided a lifeline for many senior citizens who used the centre’s services and relied on its volunteer-driven minibuses to get them from their homes in the town and villages to the centre. “Thank you to everyone who has given to the appeal,” she said. “Without this bus, many people would be left isolated and lonely.”
