Newmarket and Mildenhall MP Matthew Hancock was one of the winners in Prime Minister David Cameron’s cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday. He joins a number of new faces at the heart of government after being made minister of state for business, enterprise and energy.

And while he is not a full cabinet minister, he will attend weekly cabinet sessions. “It is an honour to be asked to attend cabinet as minister for business, enterprise and energy,“ said Mr Hancock.

“I am from a small business background and having worked so closely with the business community in West Suffolk over the past four years, I am delighted to be able to take on this role in government. I can only do my job successfully in Westminster by listening closely to what people are saying in West Suffolk. I look forward to representing my constituents and working for the long term future of the country.”
