Time's running out to sponsor Callum

INSPIRATIONAL teenage fundraiser Callum Fairhurst is appealing to Journal readers for sponsorship ahead of a bike ride from John O'Groats to Land's End, in memory of his brother Liam.

Proceeds from the event will go to CLIC Sargent, the charity Liam raised more than 320,000 before he died.

Liam, a former student at Soham Village College, was recognised for his fundraising achievements by Virgin boss Richard Branson and then-Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Callum's event, named Twycle, was organised by the 13-year-old through Twitter, the social networking site where users can communicate with short messages or - tweets.

Leaving John O'Groats on Sunday, August 29, and finishing at Land's End on Saturday, September 4, seven bikers will relay ride.

Callum, who picked up a prestigious Diana Award – for youngsters who make a large contribution to the community – in June, wants to raise 20,000 from his cycle challenge.
