Three men have been arrested after a fight broke out during a wedding reception at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse.
Police were called out to the incident, which took place at the racecourse’s Millennium Stand, at around 11pm on Saturday. Following the fight one of the men involved then alleged to have assaulted a police officer at the scene.
A 25 year old man from Ely was arrested on suspicion of causing affray, while a 49 year old man, also from Ely, was arrested for allegedly causing affray and assaulting a police officer.
Both men were released on bail and will return for further questioning at Bury St Edmunds Police Station on September 24.
A third man, who was injured as a result of the incident, was arrested on suspicion of causing an affray. He is currently in West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds.
“As the police are now conducting inquiries, it would be not be appropriate for Newmarket Racecourses to comment further,” said Amy Starkey, Newmarket Racecourses managing director.
