Swine flu reaches Newmarket School

A CASE of swine flu has been confirmed at Newmarket's St Louis Primary School.

In a statement, Teresa Selvey, head teacher at the Fordham Road school, confirmed today that one pupil had the virus and there was one other suspected case.

She said both youngsters were at home receiving medical treatment and there were currently no plans to close the school.

"We have had it confirmed that one young person who attends St Louis Primary School has swine flu," she said.

"There is also one further suspected case at the school.

"There are currently no other young people or members of staff displaying any of the symptoms associated with swine flu."

She added: "The school's leadership team and governors will continue to monitor the situation and will keep parents informed if the situation should change."

It follows an outbreak two weeks ago at Burwell Village College Primary School where three pupils contracted the illness.
