Seven friends will be taking part in a 10k run in support of the Help Me Hear campaign to fund pioneering surgery for a two-year-old Burwell boy.
Amy Casburn, Martine D’Antonio, Kate and Duncan Dodds, Michelle Driver, Scott Bayliss and Paul Pickard will run the Hunstanton 10k Beach Run on Sunday, September 15, for Paul’s son, Danny, who was born profoundly deaf after developing a rare condition called Charge Syndrome.
Paul and Danny’s mum, Helen, hope to raise £65,000 for auditory brainstem implant surgery, in Italy, which will allow him to hear for the first time.
Helen said: “For us to hear Danny say ‘mummy and daddy’ seems like a dream, which we hope one day will come true.
“The response from people has been phenomenal. It’s totally overwhelming that so many people want to help us.”
