Sue all set to leap for charity

RED Lodge nursery owner Sue Stock is to put aside her fear of heights as she prepares to take part in a 10,000ft sky dive for charity.

The 53-year-old, who owns Bluebell Nursery in Turnpike Road, volunteered to take part in the jump for the Tang Ting Twinning Association after losing three stone in her Lighter Life challenge.

Starting the 10-week course in May, weighing 13 stone, the Red Lodge resident acheived her goal earlier this month by getting her weight down to 9st 11 lbs.

Sue said: "Orginally Tina Knight, president of the association, was going to jump and when she couldn't, I stepped forward on the promise that I lost the three stone.

"I feel fantastic for losing my weight, but wish I had kept my mouth shut about the jump as I am terrified of heights. I don't go on fair rides and even hate big escalators."

Set up in May, 2007, by Tina Knight, the aim of the association is to promote friendship between Debden, and Wimbush in Essex, with the Nepalese mountain-based village of Tang Ting, along with helping support it financially by staging fundraising events like the skydive.

"I hope I can raise at least 500. Seeing the images of those children out there just made me want to help them. Even if I need pushing out of the plane defeating my fear will be worth it for those children. I have already asked parents and friends for sponsorship. Every penny really counts," added Sue.

The skydive will take place at Chatteris on Saturday, September 5, weather permitting.

To sponsor Sue, contact the nursery on 01638 555184.
