Birds roosting at Studlands Park in Newmarket will have somewhere to build their nests this spring thanks to the work of volunteers at the weekend.

Go Wild in Newmarket organised a nest box building session when residents of all ages put together and customised the pre-drilled nest boxes donated by builders’ merchants Ridgeons.

The boxes were then put up on trees in woodland recently cleared by Forest Heath District Council.

Cllr Joy Uney, who took part in the event, which was held on Sunday, said: “It was an incredibly successful day and a great example of the community getting together and taking part in a community event.

“It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm from all the people involved.”
