Stolen goods recovered in day of action
Police in Newmarket are keen to reunite owners with stolen goods recovered following a day of action in the town.
Last week, officers seized more than 20 items, including iPods, iPhones and laptops, after a series of searches at addresses and second-hand dealerships across the town as part of Operation Drawbridge, aimed at reducing the number of house burglaries in the county.
One of the places targeted was Cash Machine pawnbrokers in High Street.
“I am really pleased that we are recovering stolen goods in the town as part of our ongoing priority of tackling burglaries in Newmarket,” said Inspector Matthew Rose, police commander for Forest Heath.
“Recovering stolen goods is a vital part of disrupting crime and the recent search warrants conducted in Newmarket will continue.”
Insp Rose also said that residents should try to ensure they did not leave themselves vulnerable to crime.
“It is important that everyone takes some simple steps to ensure they do not become a victim of crime,” he said.
“This includes locking all doors, windows and gates, and not leaving valuables on display.”
Anyone who believes that one of the seized items may be theirs should contact 101.
