Sainsbury’s in Mildenhall collected £455 in customer donations which will be given to a cancer ward at West Suffolk Hospital after the death of a colleague in February.

Mandy O’Toole died after a short illness and staff at the Recreation Way supermarket urged customers to dig deep for the Macmillan Unit at West Suffolk Hospital.

The money will be spent on buying the ward new waiting room chairs for patients awaiting chemotherapy.

Macmillan Information Centre manager Nicky McKee and Macmillan volunteer Sue Peachey joined Sainsbury’s staff Helen Gower, Joy Harrison, Patrick Tranter, Jo Ould and retired Jenny Darkens.
