Newmarket’s historic St Agnes Church was decorated as if for a country wedding with flowers arranged by 12 teams of parishioners when its staged an open weekend earlier this month, which raised £1,600 towards church funds.

The Grade II listed church in Bury Road, described by English Heritage as “ an exceptional example of a high Victorian Church.” was built by the famous Newmarket racehorse owner, the Duchess of Montrose in the 1880s.

It features mosaics designed by Salviati, whose work also includes St Paul’s Cathedral and the Albert Memorial in London.
