Shocked by death of sister

TWO heartbroken sisters have paid tribute to their older sister who died just yards from her home in Lakenheath, aged 26.

Catherine Turner, of Compass Close, died at around 12.30pm on Friday from a suspected heart attack after collapsing on North Road while on her way to look after a friend's dog.

Miss Turner, who had just returned from a meal with her sister Susan Vincent in Mildenhall, was found on the pavement by her sister's husband James Vincent, who was taking some people back to work.

After calling paramedics, efforts were made to resuscitate her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mrs Vincent said: "It was very unexpected as apart from her asthma she was a healthy girl. It has come as a complete shock to everyone who knew her."

"She was a great sister and really helped me with my little boy. I will miss her a lot. She loved working with children.

They were her two passions – the church and working with children," added Mrs Vincent.

Sister Tammy Turner added: "I was working at Primark in Cheltenham on my break from university and when I heard the news.

"I could not believe it."

"She was a lovely person and would never judge anyone. She would make friends with anybody and had a lovely smile, which I will miss a lot. Children loved being with her.

"It came as a complete shock to me and it will feel very strange not having her around."

Born at West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds, Miss Turner, was educated at Lakenheath Primary School, College Heath Middle School and Mildenhall Upper School, before taking up a job as a housekeeper.

Alongside her housekeeping job, Miss Turner often lent a hand at the village's Sunshine Corner Day Nursery along with teaching youngsters at the Assembly of God Church, Back Street, Lakenheath.

Her funeral will take place at the West Suffolk Crematorium at 3pm on Wednesday.
