Second wild cat sighting in space of month

THE elusive Cambridgeshire wild cat has reared its head in Red Lodge.

Resident Jackie Ellerton believes she saw a feline creature twice the size of an ordinary cat opposite her house in Russet Drive.

Her sighting follows reports by a couple in Isleham, who claimed they saw big wild black cat with a bulbous tip tail last month.

Mrs Ellerton said she spotted the animal standing on some derelict land early one morning.

"There is quite a bit of wildlife that goes to that area as it is quite secluded," she said. "I got quite a good view of it.

"It was huge and spotty and not like an ordinary cat."

Pc Paul Carter, wildlife officer at Cambridgeshire Police, is putting together all sightings of the beasts in a bid to prove whether they are prowling the countryside.

He wants witnesses to get in touch with their accounts to help him build a picture of possible movements.
