Newmarket Rotary Club members have thanked the public for helping them raise more than £5,000 for good causes, local and overseas.
The club held a collection at the Newmarket branch of Waitrose, which raised £2,000 for victims of Typhoon Haiyan in The Philippines.
Meanwhile, the club’s annual carol concert, held at Tattersalls in Newmarket, raised £2,200, which will be split between the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Newmarket Community Hospital’s Rosemary Rehabilitation Ward.
And another £2,225 was raised through collections at Waitrose and Tesco in the run up to Christmas, which will go towards supporting local charities and projects this year.
Rob Dubbins, president, said: “All the members of the rotary club would like to thank all those who supported us during 2013.
“Your support ensured Tattersalls was filled to capacity. This event is not only about raising money, but it also aimed at providing an event for the community to enjoy.
“We thank all the choirs, Newmarket Town Band, the college band and choir, and the public and local businesses for their wonderful continued support for this event.”
