A record setting scarecrow festival returned on the weekend to Barton Mills after a break of four years.

The theme was famous characters and activities included craft stalls, a Gruffalo trail in The Manor and a pedal car time trial in The Street.

A BBQ and live music was held on Saturday evening on the Green and on Sunday songs of praise were sung in church. Money raised from the festival went to the Church Preservation Trust.

In 1999, the festival made the Guinness Book of Records for the most number of scarecrows in one place, when it hit 761.
