Underprivileged children around the world will have a Merry Christmas thanks to youngsters in Fordham.
Villagers have teamed up with Fordham Primary School to pack around 68 boxes for Samaritan’s Purse UK’s Operation Christmas Child.
Sue Ling, teaching assistant, said: “The whole school joined in. We had about 60 children in the school hall packing, wrapping and sorting the shoeboxes. We collected 68, but we are hoping to get a few more over the next few days.”
Since 1990, more than 100 million children in more than 150 countries have received shoebox gifts. Sue added: “We held an assembly about Operation Christmas Child for the children and the response was massive. The shoeboxes will go to children who have nothing, or very little, or have experienced war or lost their families.”
