Police target homes in drugs raids

POLICE seized cocaine and cannabis when they raided a house in Newmarket's Frampton Close on Friday as part of a district-wide operation targeting suspected drug dealers.

As a result of the Newmarket operation, a 27-year-old man was cautioned for permitting a property to be used to smoke cannabis and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine.

He has been released on police bail to return to Bury St Edmunds Police Station in January.

In a house in Mildenhall High Street, police seized cannabis and computer equipment.

Two men aged 18 and 42 were arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply and have been released on police bail to return to Bury St Edmunds Police Station next month.

Detective Inspector Andy Smith, who led the operation, said: "This is the first of what I hope to be many operations aimed at targeting drug dealers operating in the Forest Heath district.

"The message I want to send out is clear - if you continue to use and supply drugs you can expect to be caught and brought to justice."
