Police appeal after knife attack in Burwell

POLICE ARE appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked with a knife in Burwell.

The 26-year-old victim was walking through an alleyway off Silver Street when he was approached by a man who asked him for a light.

The attacker then hit the man in the face with what is believed to have been a knife in his hand. The victim who managed to run off received slight injuries.

Detective Constable Gayle Dabney of Cambridgeshire Police said: "This was an unprovoked attack and has left the victim very shaken.

"It was lucky that he did not receive more serious injuries and I would urge anyone with information about the attacker to contact police."

The offender is described as black, about 6 foot 5 inches tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a white zip-up hooded top.

The incident happened at 9.30pm on August 8. Anyone with any information should call police on 0345 456 456 4.
