Health and safety officials are working with police investigating the death of a workman following an incident in Lidgate on Tuesday.
The man, in his 30s, was involved in road works on the B1063 when he collapsed at around 10.30am.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance attended, landing in a nearby field, and medics worked alongside the land ambulance crew to try to resuscitate the patient. He was taken by road to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge but died on the way.
Reports that the man may have been hit by a car could not be confirmed by a police spokeswoman. “At the moment investigations are still continuing and we are still treating this man’s death as unexplained,” she said. “The health and safety executive has been notified and is working with police to establish the circumstances of the man’s death.”
