Dogs walkers in Forest Heath are being asked to help police sniff out crime as part of new initiative.

The Paws on Patrol scheme, which is being supported by Forest Heath District Council, encourages dog walkers to register with police and report any suspicious behaviour they may come across while out and about.

Dog owners can sign up to the scheme at four registration days, that will take place in Newmarket, Mildenhall, Red Lodge throughout February and March.

The first registration day will be held at the Severalls Pavilion in Newmarket on Sunday, February 2.

Following on from that a session will then be staged at the Jubilee Centre in Mildenhall on Thursday, March 20, and at the Millennium Centre in Red Lodge on Thursday, March 27.

All three sessions will take place between 11am and 3pm.

As an added incentive to join the scheme dog owners can get their dogs micro-chipped for free courtesy of the Dogs Trust at each registration event, along with getting a free goody bag and receive nutritional advice for their four-legged friends from representatives of Pets at Home.
