Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary was foiled in Gazeley.

The incident occurred at 8pm on Monday, December 16, at a property in Moulton Road when a car pulled up in the road beside the house and was left with the engine running, but the lights turned off.

The victim shouted to raise the alarm after finding a tack room door open at the rear of the property and saddles on the floor.

The victim then ran to the car and removed the keys before calling the police.

Police officers, assisted by helicopter and dog units, attended and searched the area but were unable to locate the offenders, who were seen running down the road towards the village.

The suspects’ vehicle, a blue Renault Megane Scenic, was found to have items in the back including two Hayter lawnmowers.

The items have been linked to two other burglaries at properties in Bury Road, Newmarket.

The first incident took place between noon on Sunday, December 8, and 4.30pm on Tuesday, December 17, when the victim discovered their garage had been broken into and a Hayter lawnmower and a jerry can of petrol stolen.

The second incident took place at about 7pm on Monday, December 16, when a Hayter lawnmower and ferret box were stolen from a shed.
