Residents in Mildenhall enjoyed a wide variety of activities and entertainment in the town on Saturday at this year’s Lark In The Park event.
More than a 1,000 people turned out to the ever-popular display on the Jubilee Fields which was organised by Mildenhall Parish Council.
Throughout the event visitors had the chance to try their hand at activities such as crayfish fishing, along with tackling a portable climbing wall.
For those who did not want to partake in any of the hands-on experiences there was a chance to soak up a range of live music, along with looking at a range of vintage cars and watching a model aircraft display.
“We didn’t count how many people came through but I would imagine it was more than 1,000, as we had a steady stream come through all afternoon,” said Mandy Maguire, Mildenhall Parish Council clerk.
“Crayfish fishing proved extremely popular, while there always seemed to be a queue at the climbing wall and bungee trampolines.
“The model aircraft display had their followers and there were a lot of people doing the activities put on by West Suffolk Golf Club and Mildenhall Cycling Club.”
Although the crowd number was down on last year’s 3,000-plus figure, organisers were still happy with how the day went.
“It went really well and everyone seemed to have a great time,” said Mrs Maguire.
“This was the first one I have been involved in. It was lovely to be part of it and see people really enjoying themselves,”
“The team at Mildenhall Parish Council did an excellent job at putting this on. It was a great team effort.”
