Plan row villagers vow to fight on
Exning Housing Protest group at FHDC office ahead of planning meeting.
Exning residents will continue to fight against approved plans to build 120 new homes in the village by appealing against the decision.
The Exning Action Group was due to informally discuss the option of an appeal with a member of Exning Parish Council yesterday.
The group, made up of Exning residents, was formed to oppose plans put forward by developer Charles Church to build on agricultural land south of Burwell Road.
Despite a 900-signature petition of objection, the proposal was approved by Forest Heath District Council’s development control committee on Wednesday.
Simon Cole, spokesman for the action group, said they had 21 days from the date of the hearing to make an appeal.
He said: “With building 120 houses, just because you can doesn’t necessarily mean you should. I have had a flood of furious emails from residents who feel that they haven’t been listened to.”
Roger Stubbs, chairman of Exning Parish Council, said: “I can’t comment until this has been discussed by the parish council.”
