A Soham pensioner was so moved by images of this winter’s flood crisis she went on a solo fundraising mission to help the victims.
Eighty-one-year-old Kitty Driver, has collected £878 for the Somerset Flood Relief Fund from shoppers in The Guineas shopping centre in Newmarket and in supermarkets in Ely, since February 21.
“I had seen it on the television and in pictures and I felt sorry for them.
“Just the sight of seeing all that water everywhere making people leave their homes was dreadful. I would like to thank everyone for the generous donations and for all the people who helped in the shops. I will pop in and let them know how much we raised.”
