A project to re-surface a well used bridleway and path between Mildenhall and West Row has gone over its initial budget.
Plans for the work, were scheduled to cost in the region of £220,000, however due to changes in the proposals the cost of the work is expected to be closer to £270,000.
“It does seem like a lot of money but the plan has been changed to ensure that the needs of more users of the bridleway are met, there are no other reasons for the extra cost,” said a spokesman for Suffolk County Council (SCC)
Work on the project, which has been funded by SCC, the Department for Transport, and Sustrans, a national charity promoting sustainable travel, is already well under-way.
A two-and-a-half metre path at a wooded section in Mildenhall has been completed, along with steps built for fishing pegs. The project is expected to be completed by February.
