Creative Newmarket school pupils got the chance to show off their art skills to parents and visitors on Friday.
The students from Paddocks Primary School had been involved in a week-long art extravaganza which involved the study of art forms from different countries and the opportunity for them to create their own works of art. Jackie Crisp, art subject leader at the Rochfort Avenue school, said the event had been a huge success.
“The children had a fantastic time and were very proud to see their work in the exhibition at the end of the week.
“All the staff at the school worked incredibly hard to make the event the success it was and that was also due to the collaboration of our visiting artists, Tiffany East head of art at Newmarket College and its art students who spent a day with our pupils and all the parents who came in and helped and bought their children’s art at the exhibition.”
Pupils looked at different art forms from Africa, India, France, Japan and Britain as well as Aboriginal art from Australia,.
Visiting artists were Jacquie Jones and Savitri Wilder, who worked with the pupils on paper crafting.
