The Packhorse Inn in Moulton has been named winner of the Best Food Pub for East Anglia and East Midlands in The Great British Pub Awards.

Owned by former banker Philip Turner, the inn is managed by Chris and Hayley Lee who won accolades for their former workplace The Crown in Bildeston.

Chris said: “It was a big leap moving on after 10 years at our previous inn and taking on the challenge of setting up a new business. It feels really good to know that we are getting it right and it is down to the great team here in Moulton.”

Philip said: “As a relative new entrant into the pub world I am just so thrilled to have this affirmation that what we are doing at The Packhorse Inn is hitting all the right notes.

“As we get ready to open our second pub in the Chestnut Inns family - the Rupert Brooke in Granchester - it has given the team a huge confidence boost.

“Full credit must go to Chef Chris Lee for his great talent but also his commitment to use local produce and his passion for always trying something new”

The Packhorse Inn now goes on to the national finals of the Publican’s Morning Advertiser awards on September 11.
