One dies in A14 crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a person died on the A14 this morning following a four-vehicle crash.

The incident, which involved three lorries and a car, took place at about 7am close to the A1303 Stow-cum-Quy turn.

Firefighters from Newmarket and Cambridge cut free a man from the car using specialist equipment.

He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, with serious injuries.

The unnamed person who died, who was also travelling in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

All three lorry drivers were checked over by paramedics.

Sgt Gordon Murray, of Cambridgeshire Police. said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision or any of the vehicles prior to it.

“We’re particularly keen on hearing from anyone who saw any vehicle stopped or broken down on the slip road to the junction with the A1303.”

The westbound section of the A14 between Nine Mile Hill and Stow-cum-Quy is expected to be closed for several hours while investigations to continue.
