Members of the public are being encouraged to put forward their nominations for a police officer or police community support officer who has shown outstanding professionalism, dedication and commitment.
An annual awards ceremony is held each year at Suffolk Police Headquarters. This year the ceremony will be held in June.
The Sheepshanks Trophy is awarded annually to a serving police officer or police community support officer who has shown outstanding professionalism, dedication and commitment over a continuous 12 year period.
The award may be made in respect of the professional conduct of an individual officer by:
- Giving people a reliable, responsive local service that is visible and accessible.
- Working with communities and partners to identify local concerns, solve problems and bring offenders to justice.
- Making sure that each person who has contact with Suffolk Constabulary feels we have listened, responded appropriately and kept them informed of our actions.
- Keeping the public safe and reassured by providing the highest quality policing service.
and/or Commitments, charities or otherwise, which have given the officer or member of police staff a close affinity to his/her community including partnership working with the community.
and/or other special meritorious service, which has been particularly valuable for community relations.
It should be noted that the award does not solely relate to community involvement activities and that exceptional performance in other areas of policing activity would meet the criteria.
Members of the public are being encouraged to make nominations.
A selection panel chaired by the Deputy Chief Constable and including a member of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, a representative of Unison, a representative of the Police Federation, a representative of the Special Constabulary, a representative from HR, a representative from the County Policing Command and the award sponsor will consider all nominations.
The Sheepshanks Trophy will be formally presented to the officer or member of staff selected at the annual award ceremony in June.
Any nominations should be sent to Helen Griffin, email Helen.firstname.lastname@example.org care of Executive Services, Suffolk Police Headquarters, Portal Avenue, Martlesham, IP5 3QS by April 7.
