A Newmarket nursery class hatched chicks last month in time to find them a home for Easter.

Pupils of Fairstead House School in Fordham Road kept the eggs in a warm incubator and after 23 days of tender nurture they started to hatch.

Now the time has come for the children to send the chicks off to grow up on a farm which belongs to one of the teachers.

The school hatched six chicks in the nusery’s classroom as an Easter project that involved both children as young as three and teachers.
