Newmarket craft market cancelled

A CRAFT market which was due to be held in Newmarket this Saturday has been cancelled due to the bad weather.

A spokeswoman for Forest Heath District Council revealed the themed event, which would have been held alongside the existing market in Market Square, had fallen foul of the icy conditions this afternoon (Thursday).

It had been organised by market trader Andy Neal as a way of creating more interest in the market, which has been struggling for some time.

The council spokeswoman said: “We are disappointed that we have had to make the decision to cancel and we hope to hold this market at a future date as there was a lot of interest in the themed market day running alongside the existing market.”
