The principal of Newmarket College is leaving his role after five years with the school.
Dr Bob Cadwalladr will be replaced by deputy principal Nick Froy as interim head of school, while Howard Lay, the current principal at the Samuel Ward Academy, will take up the position of executive principal.
Mr Lay and Mr Froy said: “We would both like to thank Dr Cadwalladr for his efforts and leadership over the last 5 years. The staff, students and governors join us in wishing him well for the future.”
In a letter to parents, Dr Cadwalladr said: “I would like to thank the staff at the college for all their hard work and professionalism; the governors for their time and commitment and the parents who have supported the College, our community and their children’s educational journey over the last 5 years.
“I have grown an affection, respect and love for the young people of Newmarket and their community. It has been a great pleasure to be part of their education, their growth and their successes. I shall miss them hugely, my lodestone has been the building of their life choices and life chances and I wish all the students of Newmarket College the best for their futures. I shall miss being part of it.”
He added: “I will leave with happy memories of my time at the college, a great deal of pleasure from the work with colleagues, affection for the young people and pride at the differences and improvements that I have been part of. It is only left to wish you and your children all the best for future success and achievement.”
