Newmarket-based food producer, CP Foods UK, has announced a £4 million investment in its Fordham Road site.
Most of the money has been used by the company to build a second factory with state-of-the-art equipment, next to its original base built in 2005 on the Turner’s transport site between Newmarket and Fordham.
The new build has created around 100 new jobs and the company is confident that more jobs could follow as the company continues to develop its food ranges.
CP Foods UK, part of the worldwide CPF Group, one of the largest added-value food producers in the world, launched new brand Taste Inc., a new premium range of microwavable sandwiches, subs, baguettes and burgers, earlier this year and now lists supermarket giant Morrisons and the One Stop chain among its customers, as well as garage forecourts and convenience stores across the UK.
Adrian Wilson, head of UK Manufacturing, at CP Foods UK commented: “It is a very exciting time for us; we’re going through our biggest change since 2005. “We’re delighted to have been able to make such a significant investment in our Newmarket site. And just five months on the brand is going from strength to strength; once people try the range it speaks for itself.”
CP Foods has made local headlines in the past when it announced it had called in a spiritual adviser to help encourage a happy environment at its Newmarket site after it was visited by an adviser to the company’s chief executive of its Thai-based operations in Bangkok.
