The funeral service of former councillor, Brian Gray, will be held at St Peter’s Church in his home village of Moulton on Tuesday at 2pm.

Mr Gray, who died last week, aged 74,was first elected to Forest Heath District Council in 1983 and served on the authority as an independent councillor representing Moulton, Kentford and Dalham for two decades.

He was also a Moulton parish councillor for more than 20 years. In Newmarket, Mr Gray was an active member of the town’s Nomads drama group for nearly 40 years and was on the committee of the town’s Maisons-Lafitte twinning association, visiting the French town many times and hosting visiting families and students at his home.

His widow, Gillian, said: “I have been told he often brought a touch of humour to the council chamber. He loved a good debate but he cared deeply for the people he represented.”
