Motor show raises £20,000 for charities
EX-FORMULA One star Mark Blundell took some time out from commenting on this year's world championship to visit Newmarket's Two Counties Motor Show.
The former McLaren-Mercerdes driver, now ITV's F1 commentator, signed autographs and chatted to fans throughout the event, which took place at the Rowley Mile Racecourse on Sunday.
The 4,000 visitors also got to meet three-time world touring car champion Robert Huff.
Cars on display during the show, organised by Cambridge, Ely and Newmarket Lions, included 400 new vehicles from makers such as Honda, BMW and Seat
A hundred classic cars, dragsters, motorbikes and performance cars including two Ferraris, were also on show.
Ian Newstead, one of the organisers, said they expected to have raised more than 20,000 for Cambridge Cancer Help Centre, West Suffolk Crossroads and the Ely Soham Dial-a-Ride service.
"It went really well and was absolutely packed," he said. "We couldn't believe how many people came in. It was more than we've ever had before."
