A group of Year 12 students from Mildenhall College of Technology will join thousands of people to run the Race for Life for Cancer Research UK later this year.

Jessica Ferreira, Jaimie Lane and Pippa Hilton, above, will be joined by friends Tracey Lane, Lauren Hancock, Rikki-Lee Bellingham and Shannon Whenman to take part in the 5km run on June 23.

The girls, who nicknamed themselves the Pink Panthers, have already raised more than £346 and hope to reach a target of £1,000.

Jaimie, 17, said: “Cancer is a horrible illness so we really want to make a difference for Cancer Research UK. The great thing about it is it’s the only UK charity that researches all 200 types of cancer, common and rare.”
