An inquest into the death of Newmarket man Michael ‘Mick’ Poole will begin at the end of next month.
Mr Poole was 68 when he died suddenly at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds in September last year. A father of five, Mr Poole lived in New Cheveley Road and was one of the town’s characters having lived in Newmarket since 1964.
A civil engineer by trade, he had played rugby for Newmarket, and in 1968 was a west Suffolk boxing champion. He also sang with a band. His funeral service which was held in October was attended by more than 300 people.
The inquest into his death will open in Bury St Edmunds on Monday.
The full hearing, which is expected to take two days, is due to begin at the Active Business Centre in Bury St Edmunds on Monday, June 30.
