Newmarket Journal - July 2012 Olympic Torch Relay - Newmarket Cheryl Scotland-Wigg

The Olympic Torch parade through Newmarket in July of last year, just weeks before the official opening of the London Games, was the highlight of a busy 12 months for the town.

That special day and a host of other memorable moments from 2012 are now part of a online photo book that has been produced by the Journal in collaboration with developer Kier Homes, and has gone live this week.

From January through to November, a host of pictures from each month features plenty of local faces and activities.

Included are charity events, Diamond Jubilee street parties, the Olympic Torch parade and the town carnival, farewells from the town’s two middle schools which closed in the summer, the Royal opening of accommodation at Rous Court, the stables’ open day and plenty more.
