An Exning teenager has written and recorded a song in a bid to raise money for two homeless charities in Cambridge.

Megan Simpson, 13, of North End Road, was inspired to write Walking By by a friend of her family, Alexander Masters, who wrote the biography Stuart: A Life Backwards about his homeless friend Stuart Shorter, which was turned into a BBC drama starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy.

The Soham Village College student will donate money raised to Winter Comfort and the Cambridge Cyrenians.

Anabel Simpson, Megan’s mother, said: “She is very musical and is always singing. I’m very proud of her.”
